As we enter 2015 we were musing about some of our favourite celebrity glasses looks in 2014. Here are some of the eyewear looks that captivated us last year, and are perfectly on-trend for 2015.
Jennifer Aniston ended 2014 with critical acclaim for her role in Cake, which has also resulted in a number of nominations for the actress. At the film’s screening and Q&A session, Jennifer Aniston wore strong black glasses with a deep squared lens that perfectly pulled together her polished-casual style.
Oscar winner and Glamour’s Woman of the Year, the ever stylish Lupita Nyong’o looked fantastic in an upswept butterfly frame at the Massachusetts Conference for Women. Throughout 2014 Nyong’o also often selected bold black rectangular frames, demonstrating her versatility in using glasses shapes and patterns to compliment her scene-stealing fashion.
2014 was major for Zoe Saldana. Not only did she star in Guardians of the Galaxy, the top grossing film of the year, but she also welcomed twin sons in November. With striking fashion throughout the year, we love these patterned cat eye glasses that perfectly suit Zoe Saldana’s maverick style.
Emmy Rossum’s glasses style is as striking as the actress herself, and she isn’t afraid to go bold with tantalizing red frames. Now back with a new season of Shameless, we look forward to seeing more from this versatile actress, and her transfixing fashion choices.
Another star whose climb shows no sign of slowing is Benedict Cumberbatch who has received numerous accolades for his role in The Imitation Game, while also providing voice work in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Benedict’s Persol glasses are bold and black, with a Retro-Wingtip shape and temple detailing to add interest.
With Modern Family still at the top of the ratings, a small role in The Skeleton Twins, and becoming the voice of Mr Peabody, Ty Burrell had a great 2014. We were excited to see him sporting our exclusive brand, Derek Cardigan, at a number of events this year, especially as he picked up his well-deserved Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt ended 2014 with a bang by marrying his longtime love, Tasha McCauley, co-founder and CEO of robotics company Fellow Robots. In a rare, public pic we love the couples breezy style, and Gordon-Levitt’s rounded tortoiseshell glasses that hold understated vintage appeal.
There were few stars with a bigger professional year than Matthew McConaughey, who often wore glasses when accepting one of his many awards during the season. One of the memorable looks are these round translucent glasses that McConaughey wore to a number of events, including the talk show circuit to promote the Dallas Buyers Club.
