Skyfall marks a major return for James Bond this year, with a box office haul of $869 million worldwide in its first four weeks. Now lauded as one of the best in the series, Daniel Craig brings Bond back, and for the first time during his tenure as the character he is introduced to Q in Skyfall. Interviewed a few years ago, Craig expressed his interest in the return of Q but noted, “While I’d love to see Q enter into this new Bond universe, I just hope they find a real world way of using his technology”.
With nods to the past cars and gadgets in the canon, Skyfall’s Q creates subtle tools with maximum impact. He remarks “I’ll hazard I can do more damage on my laptop sitting in my pajamas before my first cup of Earl Grey than you can do in a year in the field”. Actor Ben Whishaw embodies this new, young, and tech-savvy version of Q with foppish hair and stylish, bold glasses. Whishaw’s Q is a confident and calm Quartermaster, with a mind as sharp as his tailored suit.
On Q, the classic shape of his Retro-Wingtip glasses takes a stylish twist with a strong, black browline and a clear bottom. The Derek Cardigan glasses line, with unique multiplication and division math symbols, embodies this pattern if you are looking to emulate Q’s modern style in Skyfall.
