During these challenging times, <\/span>the team at Clearly has been humbled and inspired by the efforts of healthcare heroes and frontline workers across the country, who have made sacrifices and put their own wellbeing at risk in order to <\/span>take care of others and <\/span>fight<\/span> the spread of<\/span> COVID-19. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

After learning of the shortage of personal protective equipment within hospitals<\/span> and other healthcare facilities<\/span>, <\/span>the online eyewear brand<\/span> <\/span>devised a strategy to <\/span>donate protective eyewear to vulnerable frontline workers across the country.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

As a first step, o<\/span>n April 2<\/span> <\/span>the Vancouver-based company <\/span>provided an emergency donation of 1,052 safety glasses to the Vancouver Coastal Health network, <\/span>for<\/span> workers <\/span>to use <\/span>as a temporary alternative to face shield<\/span>s<\/span> so<\/span> they are<\/span> protect<\/span>ed while carrying out their vital roles. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Clearly has <\/span>also <\/span>been working with its suppliers and manufacturers to<\/span> ramp up the production of personal <\/span>protective equipment<\/span>. <\/span>So far, the <\/span>organization <\/span>has <\/span>produced and <\/span>donated <\/span>an additional <\/span>60,000 <\/span>face shields<\/span> to<\/span> <\/span>the Canadian Federal Government<\/span>,<\/span> <\/span>which will be<\/span> distribute<\/span>d<\/span> <\/span>to <\/span>facilitie<\/span>s across the country<\/span> through Public Health Canada<\/span>, based on need<\/span>. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

In a letter to Mr. <\/span><\/span>Bussieres<\/span><\/span>, Tina <\/span>Namiesniowski<\/span>, President of the Public Health Agency of Canada, says: <\/span><\/span>\u201cOn behalf of all Canadians, I am writing to express our sincere appreciation for your company\u2019s donation to aid Canada\u2019s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 60,000 <\/span><\/span><\/i>f<\/span><\/span><\/i>ace <\/span><\/span><\/i>s<\/span><\/span><\/i>hields you donated have been essential for keeping our frontline healthcare workers safe during a time of global shortages. Know that your generosity made a difference in slowing the spread of COVID-19. On behalf of the Public Health Agency of Canada, and Canadians everywhere, thank you.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/i> <\/span><\/p>\n

This strategy aligns with the company\u2019s M<\/a><\/span>ission<\/span><\/span><\/a>, which <\/span>stri<\/span>v<\/span>es <\/span>to ensure everyone has access to the eyewear and eyecare they need, pursued through initiatives like <\/span>Clearly\u2019s<\/span> Buy One, Give One program. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
